mr. Mariëtte Vis.

Mariëtte graduated from Utrecht University in 1992, with a master’s degree in Dutch Private Law. In 1993 she became Pension Specialist at Delta Lloyd insurances (Nationale Nederlanden). In the evenings, she was counsellor at so called Rechtswinkels (court stores) in Hilversum and Nieuwegein, the Netherlands.


In 1996 Mariëtte became a lawyer (attorney) and was sworn in, and subsequently worked for international law firm Stibbe in Amsterdam as a senior lawyer in Labour Law and Pension Law for more than 13 years. She was also Chairman of the Works Council there for several years.


Since 2009, Mariëtte has been working as an independent lawyer in Naarden; The Netherlands and her practice specializes in two areas of law: Labour law ánd Pension law. Furthermore she is a Consulting Lawyer for the International Law Firms Hogan Lovells and CMS and does business for legal aid insurers such as Achmea and DAS.


As a lawyer she advices (inter)national employers and employees. She is involved in numerous high-profile cases, including mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and labour and pension law cases involving top executives and Dutch celebrities. She works for large corporations such as Atos, IBM, ETS Global, Leaseplan, Mars, Nationale Nederlanden, Reaal, Royal Dutch Shell and Wolters Kluwer and medium-sized to small businesses. And for directors, supervisory directors, managing directors and managers up to every conceivable position.


Mariëtte is Chairman of the Gooise Association of Employment Lawyers and Chairman of the International Working Group of the Circle of Pension specialists KPS. And she is a registered intervision supervisor for attorneys at law. She is a member of the Dutch Bar Association, the Association for Employment Law Lawyers of the Netherlands and the Association for Pension Law.


She organizes in-house workshops for companies and is a speaker at seminars and conferences about labour and pension law issues, including the Regional Salary Days. Mariëtte has also written articles in the financial newspaper FD (Dutch ‘financial times’) and magazines such as ‘loonzaken’ (benefit issues) and ‘Arbeidsrecht’ (Employment law). She also co-authored the yearbook ‘Loonheffingen Arbeidsrecht en Pensioenen’ (Wage Taxes Employment and Pensions) and ‘Loonbelasting online’ (Wage Tax online) of SDU publishers.


Mariëtte regularly teaches (and follows) specialized courses to keep her knowledge up to date. Continuously study of literature and jurisprudence is a must. Standstill equals downgrading. After all, developments in the law are moving at lightning speed.
